A Day of Celebration for the City
Yesterday, January 8th, 2026, Modena experienced a truly special and emotional day: the Olympic Flame of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Games passed through the historic city center, bringing with it the values of sport, unity, and community participation.
The torch, a universal symbol of peace and hope, reached the Modena area after starting its local journey in Maranello, passing through Fiorano and Sassuolo, before entering the city. It was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd despite the cold winter weather.
In the heart of Modena, the torch relay made its way through the main streets of the historic center, passing by the Cathedral and beneath the Ghirlandina Tower, before arriving in Piazza Grande, where applause, tricolor flags, and countless smiles awaited the torchbearers.
After its passage through Modena, the Olympic Flame continued its journey toward Reggio Emilia and Parma, moving along the long route that will lead it to Milan, where on February 6th the Olympic cauldron will be lit, officially opening the Games.
