Savignano sul Panaro

Savignano sul Panaro is a picturesque town between the hills and the high plain, on the right side of the Panaro River. It is characterized by a picturesque hilly landscape and a modern town center that preserves in the upper part the ancient medieval fortified village, enclosed in a double wall.

The castle of Savignano sul Panaro is one of the main attractions in the area. Built in medieval times, it has undergone several transformations over the centuries. The structure is dominated by a stone tower: once equipped with a drawbridge, the actual entrance. A 17th-century fresco depicting the “Madonna and Child” still stands out on the tower. Today it is an imposing structure that still retains its original walls and offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding valley.
